The customer portal identifies each service by hostname and IP address, not by the underlying Mac’s hardware serial number. If you need the serial, for an Apple support case, an asset inventory, or a warranty check, you can pull it directly from the machine.

Get the serial number from the Mac

Connect to your Mac over SSH and run the following command on the physical Mac, not inside an Orka VM. A VM reports its own virtual serial number, not the host’s.
This returns the model identifier, serial number, and hardware UUID:
If you use Screen Sharing (through an SSH tunnel, since inbound port 5900 is blocked at the MacStadium network edge), the same information is in the Apple menu > About This Mac > More Info. See Connect to Screen Sharing over an SSH tunnel.

Matching the serial to a service in the portal

Once you have the serial number, the most reliable way to keep it associated with a service going forward is to add it to that service’s name in the portal, since the serial isn’t currently a portal field. If you manage several dedicated Macs, doing this once for each machine (for example, appending the serial to the service name) means you can match a specific piece of hardware to a support ticket, invoice, or asset record without reconnecting to look it up again.
Surfacing the hardware serial number as a native portal field is tracked separately as a product request. This page documents a workaround in the meantime.
