(Open-source option) OpenConnect
CLI users, should use OpenConnect - an open-source VPN client available from the command line.Download and install OpenConnect
- If Homebrew is installed, then run
brew install openconnectfrom the command line. - If Windows is running, then download and build the OpenConnect package; or use Cisco AnyConnect instead.
Download AnyConnect
If a VPN client is needed, then MacStadium recommends Cisco AnyConnect.- Open the IP Plan from MacStadium Portal > account menu > Files.
- Open the file and locate the VPN Server section.
- From the browser, visit
https://<YOUR_VPN_SERVER_ADDRESS_HERE>.- NOTE: Firefox may be needed to get past the self-signed certificate blocker.
- When prompted, provide the VPN credentials from the IP Plan.
Setup Process
- Log in using the username and password given to you in your IP Plan.
- Cisco AnyConnect SecureMobility will then check to see if your personal computer has Java installed. If it is installed, Java will be used. If not, you will be given a direct download link. Simply click the link to begin the download and subsequent installation process.
- Follow the installation prompts to complete the install.
- Once installation has completed:
- Select Settings
- Uncheck “Block connections to untrusted servers,” as the Cisco ASA appliance by default will be using a self signed certificate.
- From the main screen, enter the IP Address provided in your IP Plan, and click connect.
- Finally, to connect to your private MacStadium Cloud, simply enter your username and password once more.
